This new and exciting sale concept recontextualizes the work of some of the most important masters of 20th Century Design—Armand-Albert Rateau, Diego & Alberto Giacometti and Claude & François-Xavier Lalanne—, whose work transcends the traditional boundaries between Sculpture and Design. With inspirations including Greek and Ancient mythologies as well as the natural world, the works on offer represent some of the most iconic and important forms and commissions created throughout their prolific careers. By creating an art historical narrative spanning three generations that emphasizes these artists’ aesthetic and thematic connections, the sale will chronicle the very evolution of 20th Century Design.
